He has appeared in several World Cup and Euro qualifying games, as well as appearing in UEFA Nations League and Baltic Cup games. Raitala also played in the Finland youth system, representing his country at the U17, U19, and U21 levels, and was named the Finland U21 Player of the Year in 2009.

With a win against Liechtenstein, Finland will earn its first ever qualification for a continental or international competition. The 2020 UEFA European Championship will be played from June 12 to July 12, 2020, in 12 different cities across Europe.
