Eight players from the Impact Academy at Canada U17 training camp in Montreal

The Canadian national team will participate in the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil

MONTREAL – Canada Soccer announced on Friday the selection of eight players from the Montreal Impact Academy for its FIFA U17 Men’s World Cup Brazil 2019 preparation camp. The camp will be from July 31 to August 10, at Centre Nutrilait, in Montreal, while the World Cup will be played from October 26 to November 17.


Impact Academy players selected by head coach Andrew Olivieri are goalkeeper Benjamin Collins, defenders Maxime Bourgeois and Keesean Ferdinand, midfielders Matthew Catavolo, Tomas Giraldo and Sean Rea, and forwards Jérémie Omeonga and Mouhamadou Kane.


In the group stage, Canada will face Brazil on October 26 in the opening game of the competition, then Angola on October 29 and New Zealand on November 1. The three games will be played at the Walmir Campelo Bezerra Stadium, in Brasilia. The knockout round will start on November 5.


Canada qualified for the FIFA U17 Men’s World Cup Brazil 2019 on May 12, 2019, by winning 4-3 in penalties (1-1) against Costa Rica in the U17 Concacaf men’s championship quarterfinal.
