Novillo close to returning

Impact midfielder missed season opener with hamstring injury

One of the Impact’s offseason additions, midfielder Harry Novillo, couldn’t partake in the Impact’s 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday. The winger, who was set to start the season on the right wing, suffered a hamstring injury in the club’s last preseason game, delaying his first start in a Bleu-blanc-noir uniform.

That being said, the head coach is confident we’ll see Novillo suit up sooner rather than later.

“Harry did some tests yesterday which showed that his injury is almost at the point of being completely healed,” said head coach Rémi Garde. “We’ll follow his progress throughout the week. I’m hoping to be able to count on him soon though. Whether or not it will be next game is still a little too early to tell.”

Whether or not we’ll see Novillo in Houston remains unclear, although Garde knows he has a good option in Orji Okwonkwo, another offseason addition who started against San Jose last Saturday, doing a good job manning the right wing.

The game against Houston will kick off at 5pm on Saturday, March 9, at BBVA Compass Stadium (TVA Sports, 98.5, TSN 690).
