MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Thursday the nomination of Vassili Cremanzidis as Head of Analysis and Assistant Director of Player Personnel within the first team’s technical staff ahead of next season.

“I would like to welcome Vassili to the club’s technical structure,” said Impact head coach and director of player personnel, Rémi Garde. “His knowledge of MLS and managing a salary cap will be very important assets for us. His skills, acquired over the last six years in our club and elsewhere, will help us in the process of tracking and selecting players.”

Reporting directly to Rémi Garde, Cremanzidis will most notably manage the first team’s salary cap, as well as preparing and structuring player contracts. He’ll take on an advisory role regarding the different player acquisition processes in MLS and will occupy a role in scouting, while also assisting in the development of player profiles that are in line with the club’s objectives.

Originally from Montreal, Cremanzidis returns to the Impact after acting as Performance Analyst with the first team between 2013 and 2015. He was then responsible for scouting the team and its opposition, while working with the team’s fitness coach on player monitoring and tracking.

Over the last three years, he was part of the San Jose Earthquakes’ technical staff in MLS, after joining the Western Conference club in 2016 as Analyst, Scouting and Performance. He was then promoted to Head of Analysis and Associate Director of Player Personnel at the start of the 2018 season. He oversaw pregame and postgame analyses, GPS performance analysis and salary cap management as part of his duties.

Cremanzidis, 29, holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Concordia University (2011) and a master’s degree in sports industry management from Georgetown University (2013).
