KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The Impact U17 finished fourth in the Development Academy on Tuesday, after losing 3-1 against Barca Academy in the third place final at the Swope Park Village.

After Barca Academy scored in the first half, the Impact equalized in the 54th minute. Moulay Abdallah Kanzi Belghiti dribbled towards the right side before cutting back into the box and passing to Jérémie Omeonga, alone in front of net, who scored on a low shot.

Despite many good opportunities for the Bleu-blanc-noir, Barca Academy scored the next two goals to win the third-place game.

The Impact U17 had also lost against Atlanta United FC in the semifinal, last Sunday, 3-2 due to a late goal.

“Despite the last two results in Kansas City, we remain proud of what the team showed this year with a great season, a first place in our division and a third place in the GA Cup,” said Impact U17 head coach Nicolas Gagnon. “It’s also a good learning experience for the years to come, for us to go all the way.”

Previously, Nicolas Gagnon’s team won its three games in the playoffs group phase, as well as its quarterfinal game against the Sacramento Republic FC.

The Impact U17 therefore brings an excellent season to an end, where it finished first in its division with a 17-6-3 record. The group also finished third in the Generation adidas Cup after beating Monterrey 3-2 in its last game of the tournament.
