Advanced stats: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

STATS_DALL

What a bizarre game, Saturday night in Dallas. The Impact, despite having more possession, more passes than its opponent, more duels won and much, much more crosses, was not rewarded, although it came close on more than one occasion, hitting the post twice. We also witnessed two different but equally frustrating situations: the own goal, which happened when the ball was deflected into the net as an Impact player was attempting to clear it because of an oncoming Dallas forward, was rightly called offside by the referee and the linesman, before the video assistant referee reversed the decision, and then a Texan forward stepped on Rudy Camacho’s foot, hit the ground rolling, and won a penalty. Errors are human, but the frustration remains. It’ll need to dissipate quickly, because Orlando City SC is on its way over for a game on Wednesday at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo (TICKETS – TVA Sports, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690). Here are your weekly advanced stats.
