Since it was announced that Fernando “El Niño” Torres would be leaving his boyhood club, Atlético Madrid, at the end of the season, rumours concerning the Spaniard’s arrival in MLS have been swirling in the media.
Surprisingly, many reports are linking the prolific striker with the Bleu-blanc-noir. Impact head coach Rémi Garde had no issues addressing the rumours during a presser in late April.
“Fernando Torres is a very good player, but he isn’t in the Impact’s objectives,” said Garde. “He isn’t a part of our current plans.”
Still, rumours online persisted, so much so that Garde was asked about it again, after the game against the Chicago Fire.
“You really need to forget about him, sincerely,” added Garde.
