Impact deserved better outcome but conceded unfortunate goal in the 89th minute

It was a spell of bad luck, last night in Chicago, for the Montreal Impact. In what was a slow-paced contest, the Bleu-blanc-noir managed to keep the Fire at bay for almost the entire game and created itself the best scoring chances, although there was a slight lack of execution in front of the opponent’s goal. Out of 14 shots attempted, only two were on target, but stifled by Chicago’s netminder Richard Sánchez. Despite this lack of finishing, it was the visitors who were more audacious in attack, completing 73% of their 103 passes in the final third, compared to 59% of 88 passes completed by the hosts. That bodes well for Saturday’s game, when the Philadelphia Union will visit Stade Saputo at 3pm (TICKETS – TVA Sports, CTV, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690).

Evan Bush

5 saves – first in MLS with 55 saves this season -, 14 successful passes for a 78% success rate, 1 punch, 1 clearance.

Impact shots

Samuel Piette

1 shot, 40 successful passes, including 12 in the final third, for a 93% success rate, 5 duels won, 2 tackles won, 4 interceptions, 2 clearances, 8 recoveries, 61 touches.

4th in MLS for tackles won (17), recoveries (95) and interceptions (24) combined, 6th in MLS for fouls committed (20), 2 assists this season.
