Advanced stats: ejection and frustration

nacho stats

For a third straight game, the Impact was blindsided by an unexpected situation and consequently had to pay the price. After Saphir Taïder’s ejection against the New England Revolution and Rod Fanni’s injury at Red Bull Arena, two incidents that occurred during the first half of both games, it was Víctor Cabrera’s turn to be sent off much too early and very severely. That still didn’t stop Evan Bush and Nacho Piatti from blessing Stade Saputo with magisterial performances, but ultimately not benefitting the team in the standings. Here are your advanced stats from the game against Los Angeles FC.

Evan Bush: 14 saves (club record), 1 penalty save, 4 clearances, 1 punch, 1 ‘keeper sweeping.

Nacho Piatti: 3 goals, 3 shots, 24 successful passes, eight of those in the final third, for an 89% success rate, 7 dribbles completed, 15 duels won, 1 tackle won, 64 touches.

Stade Saputo: 20,302 spectators, 5 tifos from the three supporter groups, 3 home games to come in May.

Nacho Piatti: 9th in MLS with four goals this season, one of four players with a hat-trick, 1st in MLS with two game-winning assists this season, 51 goals in MLS in his career – 2nd highest scorer in Impact history, tied with Eduardo Sebrango.
