Saint-Laurent

MONTREAL – On Sunday night, CS Saint-Laurent won the U14 International Qualification Tournament final, presented by Nutrilait, 1-0, against the Braves d’Ahuntsic, at Centre Nutrilait. The team also qualified for the International U14, which will be presented by the Fédération des producteurs d’oeufs du Québec, from June 28 to July 1.

Saint-Laurent took the lead early in the game, when Damant Sylla scored in the first minute. Both teams experienced good spells during the game, but the Lac Saint-Louis Regional Association club held on until the final whistle to win 1-0.

The club also ended the tournament with most goals scored, finding the back of the net 22 times, and the best scorer, Maleek Manswell-Nicholls, who scored five goals, tied with Fréderick Gervais from Optimum de Victoriaville.

“It was a nice tournament,” said CS Saint-Laurent’s coach Alex Banouvong. “We started the tournament with a tie against NDG, but after, we caught up. We are happy to participate in the International U14.”

Saint-Laurent ends the tournament unbeaten, with six wins and one draw.

As well as qualifying for the International U14 from June 28 to July 1 at Centre Nutrilait, CS Saint-Laurent will also have access to a mezzanine at Stade Saputo for the game between the Montreal Impact and the New England Revolution on May 5, offered by the Fédération des producteurs d’oeufs du Québec.
