MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact will be back at Stade Saputo, this Saturday at 1pm, for a game against Los Angeles FC (TVA Sports, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690; pregame at noon). Less than 1,000 tickets are available on impactmontreal.com.

“We’re very excited to see our supporters,” said Impact head coach Rémi Garde. “We need to have the most energy possible for this first game at Stade Saputo. We’re capable of playing very well, we just need to be more consistent.”

Bouncing back at home

After playing five of its first six games on the road, the Bleu-blanc-noir is coming home at the right time. Montreal has lost its last two games on the road, although it wasn’t able to count on its two Designated Players, Nacho Piatti and Saphir Taïder, during that stretch.

“We’re playing at home, it’s another advantage,” said midfielder Saphir Taïder. “We really want to get the points and win this game, we need it. We need to use the fact that we’re playing in front of our supporters to push harder and take control of the game.”

If he enters the game, Piatti will become the third Impact player to make 100 appearances in MLS. With one assist, he’d join Patrice Bernier for most assists in club history in MLS. The former Impact captain has cumulated 25 assists with the Bleu-blanc-noir.

LAFC’s first visit

Expansion side Los Angeles FC will be playing its first game at Stade Saputo. Bob Bradley’s men have had a solid start to the season, considering they’ve only played away games: LA has amassed nine points in five games. The ex-Arsenal and Real Sociedad player, Carlos Vela, and the ex-Peñarol player, Diego Rossi, have led LAFC’s offense, scoring four goals each to start the season.

“We want to give our supporters a win and battle hard to come away with the three points,” said midfielder Samuel Piette. “We’ll need to be compact and not give our opponents time on the ball when they have possession. When we do have the ball, we need to play freely and take advantage of our supporters’ presence.”

Upcoming games

The Impact will visit one of the most exciting stadiums in MLS, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, to face Atlanta United FC, on Saturday, April 28 at 1pm (TVA Sports, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690) and will come back Stade Saputo to host the New England Revolution, Saturday, May 5, at 1pm (TVA Sports, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690 - TICKETS).
