Ken Krolicki on an upward trend

Krolicki GM 04-12

The 22-year-old has started all five games this season

Ken Krolicki now has five professional games under his belt, ranging from wins, tight losses, and playing with a man down just last week. He’s quickly gone from new kid on the block to a constant presence in Rémi Garde’s starting 11.

“Ken’s game is constantly progressing,” said midfielder Samuel Piette. “He’s a player we weren’t expecting anything out of in the beginning. He came from the draft, he was new, and we didn’t even know if he was going to sign or not. The club decided to sign him, he worked hard, things fell into place and he ended up starting the first game. You can see his confidence growing and that he’s becoming more and more involved. He’s someone who works hard and who’s very dedicated to the team.”

Playing close to Samuel Piette in the middle, but in less of a defensive role, Ken himself has seen his style of play slowly adjust as the games start to pile up.

“I’m more patient now, especially in terms of my positioning,” said Krolicki. “I’m not running around looking for the ball. I might not be touching the ball as much, but I’m getting it in better areas. I’m able to turn more and get the ball forward when I do get it. That’s probably what I improved the most in my game.”

By now, we all know that Ken is a hard worker, something that quickly caught the technical staff’s attention during training camp. But his role in midfield is slowly transforming as well, as the experience he’s gaining is helping him mature as a player.

The Impact will be back in action against the New York Red Bulls, this Saturday at 1pm, at Red Bull Arena, before heading back to Montreal for its first game at Stade Saputo against Los Angeles FC. Excellent tickets are available here.
