From Montevideo to Montreal

Ale Nacho

Alejandro Silva will wear number 9 with the Bleu-blanc-noir

Hello and welcome, Mister Silva. The 28-year-old Uruguayan international was officially introduced to the media, this Wednesday morning at Centre Nutrilait, joined by his new head coach, Rémi Garde, and the club’s technical director, Adam Braz. The winger took advantage of the opportune time to put on his new camiseta bearing number 9.

“I had no doubts when the opportunity to join the Impact presented itself,” confessed Silva. “It’s a great challenge for my family and I to come to Montreal.”

“I want to win,” followed the new Impact player. “I will be primarily at the group’s disposal so that we can be at our best. The goal is to make the playoffs, but I’m at the service of my teammates, not only in terms of the sport, but on a personal level as well.”
Silva is a versatile player that can fill a number of roles on the team. A good passer, a good dribbler, a good shooter, intense in his efforts, his talents can be as effective on the wing, on either side, as down the middle.

“I’ve played on the right wing for a long time, but I’m also comfortable on the left, as a central midfielder or as an attacking midfielder,” said Silva. “We’ll see how it goes in training. I haven’t spoken about it with the coach yet, but I’m open to playing as an 8 or a 10 if that’s what he wants.”

“I think the style in Argentina has prepared me for the physical level in MLS,” added Silva. “In that league, there isn’t a lot of space. I’m used to that and I’m ready.”

Chances are that Silva and Nacho Piatti will get along splendidly, on and off the field. Naturally, the two South Americans were already seen getting to know each other in Centre Nutrilait’s training room.

“In Argentina, we all know of Nacho’s talent and class,” added Silva. “He’s already welcomed me very warmly. I’m excited to play by his side.”

And we’re excited to see you play, Ale.
