Painting the picture against the Whitecaps

BEN MOORE EN VS VAN GOOD VER

Three keys to the game against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC
MLS is back – finally. After a long break for the Bleu-blanc-noir, it’s back to work this Sunday at 6pm (EST), against its compatriots in Vancouver, on Canada’s West coast. What does the Impact need to do to bring something back from this trip across the country? Here are the three keys to the game, presented by Benjamin Moore.

1.Limit service to Kei Kamara

The Whitecaps’ new forward is lethal in front of net, with his feet as much as his head. The key to stopping him is by limiting the quantity and quality of the balls Kamara receives. The Impact needs to stop Vancouver’s playmakers from finding time and space to look for their striker, by pressing them and by adequately blocking passing lanes in its own zone, which the Montreal squad did well during its preseason friendlies.

2. Stretch out Vancouver’s back line

From what we noticed during Vancouver’s friendlies, its four-man defense stays tight; which means there’s room to exploit on both sides. With the Bleu-blanc-noir’s wingers being so explosive, the key to Montreal’s offense may be found in those zones.

3. Face duels head on

Away game? No time for mercy. The Impact players will need to be solid in duels and win the majority of them if they want to come back to Quebec’s metropolis with a good result; the more the Bleu-blanc-noir challenges the hosts upfield, the better off they’ll be.
