He set personal records in his first season in Montreal
MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that it has come to terms on a new two-year deal, with an option for 2020, with American full-back Chris Duvall.
“I’m happy that Chris took the decision to continue with the Impact,” said head coach Rémi Garde. “He’s a player with experience in MLS who had a good 2017 season, notably due to the consistency of his defensive effort for the team.”
“We are very happy that Chris has signed a new contract and will remain with our team,” said Impact technical director Adam Braz. “Chris is now entering the prime age for a soccer player and has a solid amount of experience thus far in his career in MLS. He has the desire to continue to improve as a player and is eager to work hard to help the team succeed.”
“I could not be more excited to have the opportunity to continue playing for this city,” said Duvall. “I’m looking forward to wear the blue, white and black jersey.”
Duvall, 26, set personal MLS records in his first season with the Impact, appearing in 27 regular season games, including 25 starts, and 2,210 minutes, finishing third on the Impact in that category. He also tied his personal best with one goal and two assists. He started three Canadian Championship games.
He was acquired by the Impact in December 2016 from Minnesota United FC, in exchange for Johan Venegas, following the MLS Expansion Draft. He had previously played three seasons with the New York Red Bulls, winning the Supporters’ Shield with the Red Bulls in 2015.
He has registered two goals and six assists in 86 career games, including 77 starts, and 6,986 minutes of play in MLS. He has also started two MLS Cup Playoff games.
