Start of a four-game home stint
MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact will play its first of four consecutive games at home, this Wednesday, at 7:30pm, at Stade Saputo, against the Chicago Fire (TVA Sports, TSN, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690). Excellent tickets for this game are still available at impactmontreal.com.
“We begin our series of home games with Chicago, one of the best teams in the first half of the season,” noted head coach Mauro Biello. “It will be a good challenge to face one of the best teams in the league. It’s important for us to keep going on our good run and arrive with a good mentality.”
Another edition of the IMFC Summer will start at 5pm, as the stadium’s doors open, with two-for-one deals on all drinks until 6, as well as performances by the acoustic trio Les Jacks, in collaboration with Pride Montreal, starting at 5:30pm.
The Impact recommends that supporters use public transit and get to the stadium early. Due to transformation work at the corner of Pie-IX Blvd. and Sherbrooke St., traffic delays may occur in the Olympic Park area, notably on Viau St., on Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave. and Notre-Dame St. E.
As usual, the MLS Bag Policy will be in effect. All backpacks, camera bags and large tote bags, as well as all bags bigger than 35 cm x 35 cm x 15 cm are prohibited.
Please also note that parking entrances have changed names since last season. Entrace PB is now called P5 (orange), while entrance PA has made way for entrances P1, P2 & P4 (yellow).
Follow up with good performances
The Bleu-blanc-noir is unbeaten in August with two wins in two games, the first coming against Orlando City SC by a 2-1 score on August 5, and the second in Philadelphia, against the Union, with a 3-0 clean sheet, last Saturday.
“Being at home, we will look to dictate our style of play and build on the last good performances,” said defender Daniel Lovitz. “They’re a good team in the East, but we want to make sure we put a good performance together and move forward throughout the week.”
Following the win in Philadelphia, Samuel Piette, who had his first start in Bleu-blanc-noir, and Blerim Dzemaili, with a brace, were named on the MLS Team of the Week.
Exciting games against Chicago
The Impact played once this year against the Fire, at the Toyota Park in Chicago. The game ended in a 2-2 draw. Matteo Mancosu and Ballou Tabla scored for Montreal, while Bastian Schweinsteiger and Luis Solignac did the same for the locals.
Upcoming games
The Impact will play its next game on Saturday, against Real Salt Lake, at 7:30pm, at Stade Saputo (TVA Sports, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690 – TICKETS).
