Canada-Quebec wins its last game 2-1 against Haiti

The team is still eliminated from the Jeux de la Francophonie

The Canada-Quebec team won its last game of the group stage, 2-1 against Haiti at the Jeux de la Francophonie, with two goals from Don-Junior Bobe, from the Impact U18.

Finishing on top of its group, tied with the Democratic Republic of Congo who won 2-1 against France in its last game and had beaten Haiti 1-0 two days before, it’s the African team that will go through to the semifinals because of its +1 goal differential, while Canada-Quebec had a -1 goal differential.

“It’s always good to have your name on the scoresheet and win,” said forward Don-Junior Bobe. “I have to hand it to my teammates who put me in great situations to be able to score. I’m glad we finished the tournament on a positive note; however, I’m disappointed we couldn’t make it through because of the goal differential. We had a really special group and it showed on the field.”

Head coach Valerio Gazzola’s team comes back to Quebec with a respectable record of two wins, against Congo and Haiti, and one loss against France.
