Stade Saputo dugouts redesigned

In the last Montreal Impact home game, on June 3, captain Patrice Bernier, after a shoulder-to-shoulder contact with Sacha Kljestan, suffered a nasty fall into the home side’s dugout. Fortunately, the Canadian international was more shaken than hurt and picked himself up. The club nevertheless decided to intervene to avoid similar incidents.
The players’ dugout was thus changed and the benches are now higher. Instead of concrete, the floor is now made of wood and will be covered with artificial turf, in order to considerably reduce the risk of injury in case of another fall around the area. Both shelters were also changed, as bad weather has taken its toll on the structures for the past 10 years.
The Impact plays the first leg of the Canadian Championship final against Toronto FC, this Wednesday at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo (RDS [pregame show at 7pm], TSN, 98,5fm [pregame show at 7:15pm], TSN Radio 690 [pregame show at 7pm]). Excellent tickets for this rivalry game are still available right here.
