Laurent Ciman called up by Belgian national team

MONTREAL – Defender Laurent Ciman has been selected by the Belgian national team, Friday, for two international games, including a UEFA Group H qualifier for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on March 25 against Greece at King Baudouin Stadium, in Brussels, and a friendly game on March 28 against Russia at Fisht Olympic Stadium, in Sochi.


Ciman, 31, was part of the Belgian roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and for Euro 2016 in France. He started the first group stage game of Euro 2016 against Italy on June 13, after scoring his first international goal on June 5 in a friendly against Norway.


He made his official debut with the Red Devils on May 19, 2010, against Bulgaria, and has played 16 games so far, including qualifiers for Euro 2012 and for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He also took part in the 2007 UEFA U21 Championship with Belgium and suited up for his country at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing with the U23 team.
