Impact U16 plays first game in preparation for USSDA

IMU16 SteFoy

The Impact U16 drew 2-2 against Cégep de Sainte-Foy, last Saturday, in its first game in 2017 as it prepares to return to USSDA action on March 4.

The Impact gave up an early goal in the first minute of the game after allowing a penalty kick.

But the Bleu-blanc-noir kept fighting and scored two goals before halftime through Woobens Pacius and Youssef Mouelhi, on plays started by Brandon Garcia.

Sainte-Foy scored in the second half to level the score at 2-2, which remained the same until the final whistle.

Taking on an older team to start with, the Impact U16 also integrated eight U14 players that performed well in the game.

“For a preparation game, we alternated between high-level sequences and others where there were too many technical mistakes,” said Impact U16 head coach Nicolas Gagnon. “We still feel that the team is better balanced when we attack, and we remained solid to win our 1-v-1 battles against older players.”

The team will play an intra-squad game on February 18 before facing Vanier College on February 25.
