ST. PETERSBURG, Florida – The Montreal Impact plays its second preseason game of 2017 this Wednesday at 11am ET against the Chicago Fire at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida. It will be available to watch online for free at impactmontreal.com This game is the first of four in 11 days in the Sunshine State.

The Bleu-blanc-noir kicked off its preseason schedule during the first phase of training camp in Orlando, Florida, on February 3. Forward Nick DePuy scored a brace in a 2-0 Impact win over the University of South Florida Bulls.

“We are entering the final stages of preseason and in this phase we will be playing games,” said Impact head coach Mauro Biello. “Each game we will push the players more until they reach their full fitness. It will also give us an opportunity to measure ourselves versus MLS opponents. We will be able to assess our progress in these games.”

Led by head coach Veljko Paunović, the Fire reshaped its roster this winter, bringing in midfielders Juninho (formerly of LA Galaxy) and Dax McCarty (formerly of New York Red Bulls) as well as Hungary international forward Nemanja Nikolić. Nikolić scored the only goal in the first of two 1-0 Fire wins thus far in preseason against Florida Gulf Coast University and the Philadelphia Union.

The Impact’s schedule in Florida also includes games against D.C. United on February 18, against the Philadelphia Union on February 22 and against the USL’s Tampa Bay Rowdies on February 25. The team returns to Montreal on February 26.

The Impact’s 2017 home opener, the climax of a full week of activities, takes place at the Olympic Stadium against the recently crowned MLS Cup champions, Seattle Sounders FC, on Saturday, March 11, at 7pm ET (TICKETS – TVA Sports). In the meantime, the Bleu-blanc-noir plays its first game of the season on Saturday, March 4, against the Earthquakes at San Jose’s Avaya Stadium at 10pm ET (TVA Sports, TSN).
