The IMFC members’ choice awards for August go to Nacho Piatti and Hassoun Camara in the Goal of the month and Player of the month categories.
The Argentine attacking midfielder takes the Goal of the month prize with 48% of the votes, thanks to his game-winning finish at BMO Field, thus allowing the Impact to bring back to Montreal for the first time the three points from the shores of Lake Ontario, and that with only ten men. The number 10’s scoring drive was made possible by a route 1 build-up: after Evan Bush took the goal kick, Mancosu won his aerial duel and sent the ball toward Oduro, who put the ball in Piatti’s path with a nice bicycle. The latter took two touches to set the ball up for a powerful, precise finish with his left boot. And then there was silence.
Having taken back his centre-back mantle since a couple of games, Hassoun Camara wins the August Player of the month award, being picked by 70% of voters. The tall Frenchman feels at home either on the right or at the heart of the defence and proved it this past month with 16 clearances, 13 interceptions and 13 successful tackles, as well as scoring a spectacular headed goal. He also treated us to a couple of skill moves from his secret locker. Hass is back in top form!
There are only three home games to go in the 2016 MLS regular season, the next one being this Saturday at 7:30pm against the New England Revolution. Tickets are still available starting at $29.
