Impact Art contest: Lucas Ontivero and his windows to the world

Impact Art Ontivero

At only 21, Argentine winger Lucas Ontivero is already well-travelled. His professional soccer career brought him to play his sport with clubs from 10 different countries since his youth days. Our #32 has turned defenders inside out in Argentina, in Spain, in Mexico, in England, in Italy, in Turkey, in Hungary, in Slovenia and in Canada. Matthieu Lajoie depicted Ontivero the traveller for tonight’s game against Orlando City SC!

“I chose Lucas Ontivero for his intensity and his fighting spirit,” explains the illustrator. “Lucas seems to create shockwaves on the field, as if each movement could change something. Even though I am not a professional graphic artist anymore, I have always enjoyed the vector format and often, I open Illustrator for a couple of hours filled with fun! I vectored a picture of Lucas three times using various tones and I arranged them according to their transparency. Then, it was just a case of adding a background putting forth this shockwave effect.”

As the MLS Cup Playoffs race is in full swing, the Montreal Impact (9-7-10, 37 points, 5th in East) hosts Kaká’s Orlando City SC (6-7-13, 31 points, 7th in East) to try and get a nice nine-point cushion above 7th place, which is synonymous with exclusion from the fall tournament. Excellent tickets are still available for as low as $29.
