A beneficial break for Patrice Bernier

The captain is back in training, and he couldn’t be happier.

After recovering from a minor foot injury sustained last month, Patrice Bernier was wearing his Bleu-blanc-noir equipment again on Thursday morning as the first team returned to Centre Nutrilait after four days off.

This break, a well-deserved one after the Impact’s splendid win in Toronto, allowed everyone to take a breather and recharge their batteries. And, in Bernier’s case, to get better after an unwanted absence.

“It’s good to be back with the group in training, especially after such a fine win,” said Bernier after training. “I’m pleased to have returned onto the green grass. My foot is doing great. I’ve trained for a few days, and it’s been going well. We’re looking forward.

“Some players had gone through three games in eight days,” Bernier continued. “This little break is refreshing for us. Injured guys like me are able to recover. We want the whole team to be 100 percent fit for the last stretch of eight games. Training is intense, and there’s a renewed momentum in the air.”
