It’s not exactly an epidemic, but the phenomenon spreads across MLS every year. Now, two Impact players, Hassoun Camara and Donny Toia, have suffered hamstring strains, an injury that will force them to be sidelined for four to six weeks, from the moment where they got the injury.

“Hassoun and Donny have pulled their hamstrings,” announced head coach Mauro Biello, Friday before training. “We hope that they will be back with the squad in a timeframe closer to four than to six weeks, but it takes time.”

No fewer than 12 MLS clubs currently have players missing because of injuries to this thigh muscle especially used for surges of speed.

“It’s a phenomenon across the league and at this level,” Biello continued. “We need to keep finding solutions to calculate the workload we give to players, depending of their individual profiles.”
