Although the Montreal Impact has gone through a difficult stretch in recent weeks, the team has had a decent start to the season despite all the complications coming with a deep Champions League run in February and March.

That start has them within one point of the playoffs, behind Orlando City SC, with four games in hand on the Lions and a number of games up on those teams following closely behind, so you can say that the team’s playoff destiny is in its own hands.

Of its 11 remaining games, IMFC has five at home, all against Eastern Conference opponents. Add to that another three east coast trips of six road games; there is opportunity there to make up some ground.

After a league worst six wins last season, the team can look at some of the significant improvements over its 2014 performance to help inspire its run for the postseason.

The renewed enthusiasm that comes from Didier Drogba’s arrival and the naming of a new head coach should help with their final push for a spot in the playoffs.
