MONTREAL – FC Montreal announced on Thursday the signing of eight new players, all of them coming from the Impact Academy.
Defenders Simon Lemire, Abdoulaye Samaké, Aron Mkungilwa and Nevello Yoseke; midfielders Heikel Jarras, Samuel Duffek and Léonardo Kossaka; as well as forward Alexandar Kulic are now part of the team with USL Academy contracts.
These players were part of the Impact U18 team that reached the USSDA semifinals two years in a row.
“Having the eight U18 players graduating from the Academy to the USL team shows that we work well,” explained FC Montreal head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “If we have that many players that have the potential to be with FC Montreal, it shows how healthy the Academy is. It also improves the group because we add a lot of potential in the team. It brings extra energy and freshness.”
These new signings will train full time with the team and will be eligible for the rest of the USL season.
