Know Your Opponent: SKC

SKC

Sporting Kansas City and the Montreal Impact have played a number of interesting games over the years, brewing into a decent rivalry between the two blue colored clubs and are ready to write the next chapter this Saturday, at Sporting Park at 8:30pm (TVA Sports, TSN Radio 690, 98.5fm).

Strong at home
Sporting Kansas City is the best home team in Major League Soccer, going 6-0-3 in nine games at Sporting Park, and is the only side in MLS to have not seen defeat at home in 2015. They’ve scored 16 times over that span and allowed just five, tied for tops in league play.
Golden duo

Midfielder Graham Zusi (USA) and defender Marcel de Jong (CAN) are both away, playing for their respective national teams in Gold Cup duty. Zusi will miss the weekend’s contest as the US has qualified for the quarterfinals, but de Jong may be back with the team as Canada was eliminated from the tournament following its 0-0 draw with Costa Rica Tuesday night.

Young guns
Manager Peter Vermes started rookies at both fullback spots in last weekend’s 1-0 win at Vancouver.  Amadou Dia and Saad Abdul-Salaam, making his first career MLS start, yet keeper Tim Melia still recorded his sixth shutout in nine MLS starts since taking over for the departed Luis Marin. Sporting KC is tied for first in MLS with nine clean sheets through 17 matches this season.
