As if a Montreal versus Toronto game in any sport needed extra hype, here are a few sidebars that you can look out for this Saturday as the impact heads to BMO Field to take on Toronto FC.
- Canadian rivalry continued: With two games remaining for the Reds this MLS season, Toronto FC remains six points out of playoff spot. A win by the Columbus Crew on Sunday would eliminate TFC from contention. However, with IMFC in town on Saturday, a win or draw at BMO Field for the visitors would officially end all hopes for the postseason.
- No Michael Bradley: the American international will take part in a friendly for the US national team midweek, but will miss Saturday’s game due to a suspension for yellow card accumulation.
- Sea of Blue: Some 1,500 IMFC supporters will be making the trip to Toronto for the matchup, part of a club initiative for season ticket holders. It will be the biggest visiting contingent for the bleu-blanc-noir in club history.
- Marco Di Vaio: Following a quick stop over in Bologna for a press conference, Impact forward Marco Di Vaio will join the team in Toronto on time to take on TFC for the second to last game of his career.
