Alessandro Nesta out for two weeks with strained adductor muscle

Alessandro Nesta Long Tan vs D.C. United

The Montreal Impact will be without Alessandro Nesta for approximately two weeks with a strained adductor muscle.

Nesta, who turned 37 Tuesday, suffered the injury in the 12th minute of last Saturday’s 2-1 win versus Toronto FC at Olympic Stadium.

“We are going to take out time with him because you can’t be too careful with this type of injury,” said Impact assistant coach Mauro Biello. “We have a number of options, including using Hassoun Camara as a centre back, but we will see how training goes and make a decision later this week.”

The defender, who is entering his first full season in MLS since joining the Impact in July of last year, will miss Saturday's game against the Red Bulls. He had played all 90 minutes of the club’s first two games this season in Seattle and Portland.

Henry out as well

The New York Red Bulls will be without forward Thierry Henry for Saturday’s match in Montreal, as the team announced that the captain was diagnosed with a mild MCL sprain in his left knee suffered in Saturday's game against D.C. United.

The Impact will look for a fourth consecutive win of the season, against the Red Bulls this Saturday, March 23 at 4:30pm. Tickets are available through the Admission network (admission.com / 1-855-790-1245) or via the Stade Saputo ticket office (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm).
