Quips and Quotes: Impact vs Galaxy

Preview MTL v LA Bernardo Corradi David Beckham (EN)

Montreal Impact

Pregame : MTL - LA

Jesse Marsch:

on his so-called rivalry with Beckham...

It was more due to the Chivas-Galaxy rivalry. Those were very emotional games. We got into it a few times. When I look back at my career, the guys that gave it their all on the field were always the hardest guys to play against, like David.

on facing Beckham tomorrow...

It's a game where you can't give up too many fouls around the box because he's good at scoring on set pieces and on his deliveries. He's clever, he can put the ball wherever he wants it. We have to make sure that we handle it the right way.

on the lineup...

We're going to wait until tomorrow before we give the lineup to the guys because we have to see where a few guys are at physically and then make a few judgments calls from there on. It's a game where we can rely on our deep roster and know then the guys are going to be ready when we call them up.

Bernardo Corradi:

We should not meet motivation, we should face every game like it was our best game. We know that the city is excited for this game and me too. We're coming off a bad game on Wednesday but the good thing is that we can bounce back quickly.

Donovan Ricketts:

on David Beckham...

He's a good guy. At first I thought he would be stuck up, but he's a great person and is easy to get along with

LA Galaxy

David Beckham:
on Montreal…

We were excited when Montreal came into the league. It’s owned by some great owners and with Jesse being manager, a player who is getting a chance to manage after a good playing career is great. I wish him the best of luck, not for tomorrow though, but good luck.

On playing on turf…

Many players have expressed concerns about playing on turf, but at the end of the day it is what it is. Both teams have to play on it. Montreal gets to play on it a little more frequently, but at the end of the day, when you are in the game, you don’t think about anything else.

Bruce Arena:
On beating Montreal…

We need to score more goals than Montreal. It will be a tough game, but the reason we didn’t get results lately was because we didn’t play the full 90 minutes. We need to be ready for the whole game tomorrow. We want to come out hard and score early.

Landon Donovan:
On LA’s recent struggles…

Goals are the hardest part of the game, it comes in bunches. Right now, we aren’t scoring tat many, but as a team we have let up after getting scored on first. We got to play better to create our own luck and opportunities.
