Roster moves ahead of Orlando trip

Nevio Pizzolitto Training camp

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Monday that defenders Nevio Pizzolitto and Simon Gatti will not return with the team in 2012.


Following a decision by the technical staff, upper management met with Pizzolitto earlier today to discuss a number of opportunities for his future. Pizzolitto will take a few days to consider the Impact’s offers before making a decision.


Simon Gatti is considering a new role with the Impact Academy.


A total of 33 players will travel to Florida. Recently acquired midfielder Lamar Neagle and striker Mike Fucito, via trade with the Seattle Sounders FC, last Friday, will see their first action with the club.


Argentinean midfielder Lucas Acosta, who spent last season with Ecuadorian side LDU Quito, has been invited to Florida on a tryout.


Midfielder Sanna Nyassi will not join the team in the Sunshine State as he has been called to play for his country, Gambia, in an African Nations Cup qualifier.


Defender Zarek Valentin will be arriving on March 1 following camp with the U.S. U23 National Team, forward Andrew Wenger will join the team from February 21 to the 27 due to University commitments, while Justin Mapp will join his teammates in Florida on February 25 following a short sabbatical due to personal reasons.


Injured central defenders Nelson Rivas and Hassoun Camara will travel to Florida. Rivas is set to begin running again, while Camara started training with the U21 prior to the trip.


Quebec native defender Karl Ouimette, who plays with the U21 team of the club, will also travel to Florida.
