MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact heads to Florida, on Tuesday, to kick off its third and final preseason tour before the start of its inaugural season in Major League Soccer. The team will take part in the Disney Pro Classic tournament, set for February 24 through March 3, in Orlando (streamed on MLSsoccer.com).
“The focus of Orlando will be to continue the on-field work to prepare us for the start of the season,” said Impact head coach Jesse Marsch. “We will be able to use the matches against MLS teams to continue evaluate where we are as a team.”
The tournament will feature eight teams competing in 14 games across seven days. Participating teams include: Toronto FC, FC Dallas, Orlando City Soccer Club and Sweden's B.K. Hacken in one group, with the Montreal Impact in the other group playing against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on February 24 at 8 pm, Sporting Kansas City on February 26 at 3pm and the Houston Dynamo on February 29 at 8pm. The tournament final is set for March 3.
The Impact has a record of 4-2-5 in preseason action since the start of camp, with stints in Mexico and California, which included a 3-0 win over defending MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy.
The Impact will kick off its historical inaugural game in North America’s first division in just 19 days, on March 10 against Canadian rivals the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, at 6pm ET, at BC Place. The club will then play its home opener at Olympic Stadium on March 17, against the Chicago Fire, at 2pm.
