MONTREAL - Montreal Impact defender Zarek Valentin has been selected by the U23 U.S. National Team to take part in its upcoming training camp, scheduled for January 8 to 25.
The U23 team will prepare in Carson, California, for 10 days, before heading to San Jose, Costa Rica, to play two exhibition matches. The American side will play Saprissa’s reserve team on Saturday, January 21, and will face Alajuela, Tuesday, January 24.
Valentin has played 29 games for the U.S. U20 team, and has taken part in the U18, U17 and U15 programs. The 20-year-old defender recently toured Holland as part of the Generation adidas team.
Eight countries from the CONCACAF, including Canada and the United States, will play in a qualifying tournament in March for the 2012 Summer Games. The tournament will be played in Nashville, Carson and Kansas City from March 22 to 26, 2012.
