MONTREAL - As part of the MLS Expansion draft day, the Montreal Impact announced on Wednesday the acquisition of defender Tyson Wahl, from the Seattle Sounders FC, in exchange for allocation money.

Wahl, 27, has played six seasons in MLS, three with Sporting Kansas City and three with the Seattle Sounders. In 2011, he started 22 of 23 appearances with the Sounders, scoring one goal and adding one assist.

In three seasons with Seattle, Wahl played in 39 games, 33 of those as a starter. Seattle acquired the defender through the 2008 Expansion draft. He was also a starter for the team's U.S. Open Cup championships in 2009 and 2010.

Wahl was selected in the second round (19th overall) by Kansas City in the 2006 SuperDraft. He was also a member of the U17 and U20 U.S. National programs, playing in the U17 Youth Championships in 2001.
