The Galaxy opened the scoring at the 10th minute of play, on a penalty by forward Dalibor Mitrovic against Impact goalkeeper Dominic Provost, who was beaten on a low shot to his right.
The U21s then took control of the game, scoring six consecutive goals. Midfielder Kevin Luarca scored the first two goals at the 31st and 49th minute of play. On both occasions, Luarca came alone against Galaxy goalkeeper Vladimir Markotic, and each time, beat him with a low shot to his right.
Montreal took a two-goal lead less than two minutes later, when midfielder Bastien Bourgault received a long ball from the right side of the field and went on breakaway against Markotic. His shot to the far post beat the keeper to the left corner of the net.
Midfielder Alessandro Riggi also scored two goals (54th and 73rd minute), before Gregory Turfan, who came on the pitch after replacing Bourgault at the 66th minute, registered the last Impact goal at the 88th minute.
The Brantford Galaxy played the last third of the game with 10 players, following the ejection of defender Zvonko Balkula at the 61st minute, after he tripped Impact defender Amine Meftouh.
“This is a good win to conclude our regular season,” said Impact U21 head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “We played well offensively, and we are happy that Anthony Jackson-Hamel played his first minutes today, after missing four months due to a severe injury. Defensively, the team played much better in the second half of the game. I am happy because we finished the game well despite the score. It is a good sign for the start of the playoffs.”
The U21s will play their first CSL playoff quarterfinal game next Saturday. Details will be known this week.
