Forward Ali Gerba joins the Impact

Gerba has returned to the Impact at the age of 28, continuing his stay in Montreal that included the 2000, 2003, and 2005 season. In 32 regular season games with the Impact (2,235 minutes), Gerba has tallied 12 goals and four assists for 28 points. In 2000, he had six goals and two assists, a team record for a rookie.

"We are very pleased that he is back with the club," said Impact technical director Nick De Santis. "He is back at the right age, after acquiring a lot of experience else where. We know that he will have no difficulty adapting to our system of play and he knows the philosophy of the club. Everywhere he has played, he has been able to score goals. And Ali has shown us that he is motivated to continue his carreer in Montreal."

Gerba has also worn the uniform of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and the Toronto Lynx, in USSF Second division. After leaving the Impact during the 2005 season, he played in Europe with GIF Sundsvall, IFK Gotenborg, Odd Grenland, AC Horsens and Ingolstadt 04. In 2008, he scored 10 goals in 16 matches with Milton Keynes, in English third division. He then joined Toronto FC on June 23, 2009 and scored his first goal in Major League Soccer (MLS) against the Columbus Crew, on July 25.

He has also scored 15 goals in 29 matches for the Canadian National Team and is the best Canadian scorer in CONCACAF Gold Cup history with six goals.

Gerba will be available for the Impact's next match this Sunday, July 18, against Baltimore, at Saputo Stadium (2pm, Radio-Canada, radio-canada.ca/sports, CKAC Sports, THE TEAM 990).
