Impact will kick off training camp January 25 in Brossard

The defending champions will train almost every day, as well as play a number of exhibition matches in their new winter practice facility. Players will undergo a series of medical tests the week preceding camp kickoff.

TRIP TO PORTUGAL

Following the four-week training camp in Montreal, the Impact will head overseas to continue their winter preparation. For a third consecutive year, the team will travel to Europe for a pre-season tour.

The Montreal squad will set camp in Portugal, from February 21 to March 5 and will stay at the Training Center of Melgaço, situated at about 150 km north-east of Porto. During their stay in Europe, the Impact will take part in a series of friendly games.

“This training site is excellent. Various professional and national teams have chosen this venue due to the quality of its facilities, its natural fields and the temperature,” declared Impact technical director Nick De Santis. “We will have the opportunity to play high level matches against teams that are at the peak of their season. Our objective is to play against 1st, 2nd and 3rd division teams. This trip will also give us the chance to see out of contract players and young local talent.”

OPEN TRYOUTS IN MELGAÇO

The Impact will organize a free two-day open camp February 23 and 24 (from 6 pm to 7:30 pm) at the Training Center of Melgaço (www.melgacosportscenter.com). The best players selected by the technical staff will then be invited to take part in the Impact’s training sessions in Portugal. Interested players should send an email to info@impactmontreal.com, to the attention of Marc Dos Santos.
