Contract extension for midfielder Tony Donatelli

“I’m very happy to stay with the Impact, a first class organization and a team of great quality,” said Donatelli. “I’m glad to be in Montreal and I feel good in this club. The fans are behind the team and it’s motivating. We still have two important games to play in the CONCACAF Champions League but I’m looking forward to help the team in the future.”

Acquired June 30 from the Vancouver Whitecaps, Donatelli ended the regular season first in the goal scorers ranking with four goals, tied with forward Roberto Brown, in 16 games (902 minutes). In five CONCACAF Champions League matches, he also tallied three goals. He notably scored twice in the 4-1 victory over Joe Public FC, October 8, in Trinidad and Tobago.

“He is a young player (24) with great qualities and who has everything to become a dominant player in our league,” said Impact Technical Director Nick De Santis. “He has already scored important goals for the club. He positions himself well on the field giving him great scoring chances.”

“We are happy to have him in the line-up for at least the next two years,” added Impact head coach John Limniatis. “Tony adapted himself fast to our style of play and to his new teammates. He has a lot of potential so we are expecting even more from him in the years to come.”

BINGANA TRYING OUT

Cameroon native forward Jules Bertrand Bingana, from German club SV Darmstadt 98, is currently trying out with the Impact.

“We are still looking for a few players to fill in certain positions,” said De Santis. “It’s a good time to see good level players.”
