Impact defender Stefano Pesoli scored the game-tying goal in the 84th minute, his first career goal with the Impact, by deflecting with a header the corner kick to the far post from midfielder Rocco Placentino, who came in the game in the 64th minute.
Sounders forward Andre Schmid opened the score in the 80th minute. On a free kick in the Impact’s zone, midfielder Leighton O’Brien gave the ball to forward Sébastien Letoux on the left flank. He then centered it to Schmid who beat Jordan with a powerful low shot.
“It’s satisfying because we did great tonight, notably by replying really fast to the goal they scored by scoring as well,” said Impact head coach John Limniatis. “We started the game well and we had control in the first half, but in the second half, they put more pressure on us. We allowed that goal because on the play, we did not react fast enough.”
The Impact is now unbeaten in its last five games (4-0-1), including the two wins against Vancouver in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship.
Impact goalkeeper Matt Jordan, who faced 15 shots, made eight saves. Jordan’s sequence without allowing a goal ended after 444 minutes.
Defender Nevio Pizzolitto played his 220th career game with the Impact, moving ahead of Nick De Santis in second position in club history.
Impact midfielder Joey Gjertsen did not take part in the game due to a strong flu.
The Impact will be back in Montreal Sunday and will play its next game against the Puerto Rico Islanders, Sunday, July 6, at Saputo Stadium.

7th minute – Impact goalkeeper Matt Jordan dove to his left to stop a 25-meter free kick from Sounders midfielder Leighton O’Brien.
