Andrea Di Pietrantonio back with the Impact as assistant coach

“I’m very happy to be back with the Impact,” said Andrea Di Pietrantonio. “As a coach, you want to aspire to the highest level of soccer in Quebec, so it’s a great opportunity for me. I think I will offer a new perspective to the team. I will also bring an extra pair of hands and eyes for Nick and his assistants, as well as a few ideas, which hopefully will help the team offensively and defensively.”

“It’s a great addition to the club,” said Impact head coach Nick De Santis. “The team is growing so he will bring additional assistance to help us on the technical side. He knows Peter and I, as well as most of the players and he has demonstrated he’s competent both on the provincial and national levels.”

Di Pietrantonio is coming back with the organization after winning the championship in 2004, also as assistant coach. He was also technical consultant for Bob Lilley in his last season as Impact head coach in 2003.

Di Pietrantonio coaches the Quebec Select teams since 1996 and is involved with the Canadian national program since 2002. He was assistant coach of the Under 17 national team.

For the past two years, he was also an analyst for Montreal Impact games on Radio-Canada Television.

The Impact will play its next two games against the Battery, this Saturday, in Charleston (7:30 pm, USLlive.com), then Friday, June 13, at Saputo Stadium (7:30, pm, Radio-Canada, CKAC Sports, TEAM 990, USLlive.com).
