The Impact faces the Battery in Charleston Wednesday

In its last game, Saturday, the Impact was shut out 1-0 by the Minnesota Thunder, under pouring rain, at James Griffin Stadium, in St. Paul. Forward Melvin Tarley scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time at the end of the game.

"It was very frustrating to lose the way we did in Minnesota," said Impact head coach Nick De Santis. "We played well defensively and we had a few good scoring chances but it will be important to be concentrated for 90 minutes in Charleston. A few days before our home opener at Saputo Stadium and with one game short of .500, we want to end our six-game stretch on a positive result."

This is also the sixth game of the season for the Battery, who registered a 3-1 win in their last game, Friday, in Charleston. The Battery has not lost in three games played this season at home (2-0-1).

“We want to bounce back from our last game," said team captaine Mauro Biello. We are looking forward to play to find another win and forget our last game. We are expecting a tough game here against a quality team. Their confidence level is high because they won their last two games with five goals scored. It should be an interesting game on a good field.”

Defender Gabriel Gervais suffered a light quadriceps tear in the last game in Minnesota. He will be out of the lineup for approximativly three weeks. Veteran defender Nevio Pizzolitto will miss a third straight game due to a torn ligament in the right shoulder, injury that occurred during the game in Atlanta, April 25.

Rookie defender Alex Suprenant joined the Impact in Charleston. During the last Under 20 Canadian national team’s training camp, he took part in a 1-1 tie against Argentina U20 team, last Sunday, at BMO Field, in Toronto. Surprenant played the whole 90 minutes of the game.

The Impact will play its inaugural game at Saputo Stadium Monday, May 19, against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Note that 1000 individual tickets that were released for sale Monday at 9 am, were sold out in 90 minutes.
