IMPACT 2 ATLANTA 3

Midfielder Patrick Leduc, with his 10th career goal in the 32nd minute, and Charles Gbeke, from Leduc, in the 84th minute, scored for the Impact.

"We definitely have to correct the situation defensively," said Leduc. "We are not pointing at one particular player for this loss because the three goals came the same way. Maybe we are not conscious enough of the danger and we get caught when the team is vulnerable. It's been three games that we allow the first goal so we will have to fix that and fast."

The Silverbacks goals were scored by forward Macoumba Kandji (19th minute), defender David Hayes (52th minute) and midfielder Jason McLaughlin (70th minute).

Impact head coach Nick De Santis began the game with the same starting lineup as the last match in Miami, except goalkeeper Matt Jordan, who missed the game due to low back spasms. Impact goalkeeper Andrew Weber was playing his first game of the season.

"It's always disappointing when you lose," said De Santis. "The first half was very good for us because we had very good scoring chances and the confidence was high. But the second goal cut our legs early in the second half. We played with desperation to score a second goal, but we can't give goals that easily, especially when we come back in the game 1-1 and think that we will win the game."

Impact midfielder Leonardo Di Lorenzo, who was playing his 50th career game with the Impact, create several scoring chances, especially in the first half. In the first minute of play, Di Lorenzo took a 20-meter shot, but Silverbacks goalkeeper Ryan McIntosh dove to his left to make the save. Then at the 18th minute, Di Lorenzo deflected with a header a centered ball from defender Adam Braz from the right flank, but McIntosh dove once again, blocking another goal.

The Impact has now a lifetime record of 10-3-1 (22GF-12GA) in 14 games against the Silverbacks.

Impact defender Nevio Pizzolitto quit the game in the 37th minute, following a shoulder injury.

The Impact will play the fourth of six straight games on the road, Friday May 2, against the Puerto Rico Islanders. The club will play its home opener Monday, May 19, against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
