Impact 0 Carolina 1

RailHawks midfielder Kupono Low (52nd minute) scored the lone goal on a penalty, after being kicked in the face by defender Gabriel Gervais, in the penalty box. Low beat Impact goalkeeper Andrew Weber with a shot to his right.

With the intent to give rest to some of the regular players, head coach Nick De Santis presented a different starting line-up, made up of goalkeeper Andrew Weber, defenders Nevio Pizzolitto and David Fronimadis, midfielders Seth Trembly and Sita-Taty Matondo, as well as forward Massimo Di Ioia. But following a strained hamstring, Pizzolitto quit the game in the 11th minute and was replaced by Luis Aguilar.

The Impact had the chance to share first place in the USL standings with the Portland Timbers, since the Timbers lost 1-0, tonight, against the Puerto Rico Islanders.

"Our legs were heavy tonight and we had a hard time a few times," said Impact head coach Nick De Santis. “The goal they scored hurt us. We added a few forwards in the second half, but they closed the door. Nonetheless, we made a good effort tonight and I'm satisfied with the three wins during our last four games on the road."

"The RailHawks played desperately because they are still aiming at a playoff spot," said defender Gabriel Gervais. "They also used the wings well tonight. We tried to come back, but it's never easy on the road. I think that we dominated the second half, but we did not score despite having good opportunities."

Goalkeeper Andrew Weber, who was starting his first game since August 5, faced 11 shots.

The Montreal Impact had not conceded a single goal during its last 560 minutes of play and had shut out the opponent in its last five games.

Defender Mauricio Vincello played his 100th career game with the Impact. He is the 12th player in the club’s history to attain this mark.

Note that the game was delayed in the first half due to thunderstorm, but resumed after a 30-minute interruption.

The Impact will play its next game against the Rochester Raging Rhinos, Friday, August 31, at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex, at 8 pm (Radio-Canada, FSW, CJAD 800, Sirius).
