Impact 4 Attak 0

For this second victory during training camp, midfielder Martin Fabro (13th minute), forward Frederico Moojen (21st), captain Mauro Biello (45th) and midfielder Antonio Ribeiro (76th) scored for the Impact.

“Today’s result shows that we have a team with strong offensive and defensive skills,” said Montreal Impact head coach Nick De Santis. “This is encouraging, since all newcomers integrated themselves well during camp. Some decisions are still pending, but our roster is almost final.”

Goalkeepers Matt Jordan and Andrew Weber were both shared the shutout. Jordan was in the starting lineup and Weber followed up during the second half-time. The Impact’s former goalkeeper Andrew Olivieri played the full 90 minutes for the Attak.

The Impact ends the final phase of its training camp with a record of two wins (4-0 against Attak and 3-1 against Lynn University), one loss (1-3 against Rochester) and two ties (1-1 against Honduras and 0-0 against the Miami FC).

The Impact will kick off the 2007 USL D1 season April 21, in Atlanta, against the Silverbacks. A reminder that the Impact will be on the road for its first four meetings, before its 14th home opener at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex, on May 20, against the Seattle Sounders.

MATTHEW PALLESCHI JOINS THE IMPACT
On the same occasion, the Impact announced it came to terms with Ontarian forward Matthew Palleschi for the 2007 season, pending confirmation from the league.

During his first season in the United Soccer Leagues First Division in 2006, 24 year-old Palleschi tallied three goals and an assist for a total of seven points in 1,326 minutes of play, with the Toronto Lynx.

“I am very excited to join the Impact, which is one of the top clubs in the league,” said Palleschi, who had also participated in the Montreal club’s training camp in 2006. “Since my arrival, I have learned a lot from the veterans and coaching staff. Now it’s my turn to prove that I belong on the field.”

Furthermore, goalkeeper Gerry Argento and midfielder Ibrahim Baldeh will not be back with the Impact in 2007. They are currently training with the Trois-Rivières Attak, but have not signed any agreement.
