Three Impact players will face Jamaica in Montreal

Goalkeeper Greg Sutton as well as defenders Gabriel Gervais and Adam Braz were picked by new head coach Stephen Hart, who has been at the helm of the national team since July 12.

“I’m very happy to be selected,” said Gervais. “Last time it was against the United States in San Diego. This time, the game will be in Montreal so it will be great to represent my country here. With three players from our team on the roster, it proves that the Impact is a great springboard for the national teams and that we have quality players on our squad. It will also be good to face a CONCACAF team before the next World Cup qualifying games.”

“It’s great once again to have players selected from our team, especially since the game will be played in Montreal,” said Impact head coach Nick De Santis. “It will be a good experience for them to play in front of their own crowd. The team has a new head coach, so they will have the chance to show what they can do, as they hopefully will have the chance to play and perform well.”

Sutton, 29, Gervais, 29, and Braz, 25, have all played for the Canadian national World Cup team before. They helped Canada shut out the United States 0-0 in a friendly match-up, last January 22, in San Diego. They also played in the last edition of the Gold Cup, the CONCACAF national team’s championship, in 2005.

The Canadian team will hold a three-day camp from August 29-31 in Ottawa, prior to departing for Montreal.

Tickets are available for $15 and $25 through the Montreal Impact ticket office at 514-328-3668, the Admission network at 514-790-1245 or the Quebec Soccer Federation at 450-975-3355, ext. 3908.
