Going for 10, but injury list getting longer

Wins are becoming harder to come by, however, as the number of injuries to Montreal players continues to increase.

Head coach Nick DeSantis received confirmation, Monday, that defender and midfielder Jason DiTullio will not be available for Tuesday’s game, while midfielder Patrick Leduc’s case remains doubtful.

DiTullio hurt his right knee in the closing minutes of Sunday’s 2-0 victory in Calgary against the Mustangs. He will undergo further exams upon the team’s return to Montreal for a complete assessment of his injury. Leduc hurt his foot following a tackle during the game in Calgary.

In addition, team captain Mauro Biello made the trip out West, but was unable to take part in Friday’s 3-0 win in Vancouver against the Whitecaps, and also missed Sunday’s game against the Mustangs. He was injured to the right quadriceps during practice.

"It’s obviously not the ideal situation, especially when you consider the fact that it’s going to be our third game in five days," said DeSantis. "We’re going to have to go to our bench. Guys who haven’t played much are going to have to step up to the plate, much like the others have done so far."

Matters are complicated by the fact that Eduardo Sebrango stayed in Montreal to nurse a hamstring injury, in order to recuperate for the remainder of the season.

For their part, defenders Adam Braz (dislocated left elbow), David Fronimadis (torn ACL) and Abraham François (torn ACL) have been out of the line-up and will remain so for an extended period.

Against the Aviators, Montreal players will be facing three former Impact members in Chris Lemire, Sipho Sibya and Kurt Bosch. The expansion team will be looking for its first win of the season (0-3-4). Edmonton has only two goals scored so far this season, but has only allowed 11.

DeSantis’ squad will be back in Montreal on Wednesday and plans to resume training on Friday, in preparation for Sunday’s home game. The Toronto Lynx will be the visiting team at Claude Robillard Stadium (4 pm, CJAD, CKAC).
