Impact back in Quebec City

Head coach Nick DeSantis’ players will be facing the Puerto Rico Islanders as of 2 pm. The squad will then be in the final stretch before the playoffs, as it will be their 24th game of a 28-game schedule.

After finishing last year in first place overall with a 16-6-6 record, tied with the Milwaukee Wave United, the Impact will be seeking this season to clinch a playoff berth for the 8th time in 11 seasons, and for the third straight time.

According to DeSantis, who was in Quebec City along with midfielder Patrick Leduc, Wednesday, playing in La Vieille Capitale has become a popular tradition within the team.

"Players love to come here because it’s a chance to play in front of fans who don’t necessarily have the chance to come see us play in Montreal," said DeSantis. "So it’s always a game that has a special flavour, that the players appreciate. Support for the Impact has always been great in Quebec City, and it’s a game we always look forward to playing."

The Impact is undefeated in Quebec City, boasting a record of two wins and one tie.

On August 16 of last year, the Impact tied the Syracuse Salty Dogs 0-0 in front of 8,623 spectators at PEPS Stadium, an attendance record for an A-League game played in Quebec City.

On August 2, 2002, the Impact attracted 5,461 fans at PEPS Stadium on a Friday afternoon. The Impact beat the Pittsburgh Riverhounds 1-0.

On June 9, 1996, Montreal beat the Rochester Raging Rhinos 2-0 in front of 5,344 spectators at Patro Charlesbourg.

Fans will also be able to follow this year’s game live on CKAC.
