MONTREAL – Defender/midfielder Simon Gatti announced his retirement from professional soccer, Wednesday, following a six-year career with the Montreal Impact in North America’s second division, and accepted a position with the Impact Academy as coach of the U14 team.

Gatti concluded his playing career with 100 starts in 122 games, and 8,656 minutes played. He scored two goals and added six assists. He helped the Impact win the league championships in 2009, the Canadian championship in 2008 and the regular season title in 2006.

MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday the signing of striker Eduardo Sebrango for the club’s inaugural season in Major League Soccer. As per MLS and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sebrango, a 38-year old Canadian originally from Cuba, was on trial with the club since the beginning of training camp.

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Monday that defenders Nevio Pizzolitto and Simon Gatti will not return with the team in 2012.

Following a decision by the technical staff, upper management met with Pizzolitto earlier today to discuss a number of opportunities for his future. Pizzolitto will take a few days to consider the Impact’s offers before making a decision.

Simon Gatti is considering a new role with the Impact Academy.

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact heads to Florida, on Tuesday, to kick off its third and final preseason tour before the start of its inaugural season in Major League Soccer. The team will take part in the Disney Pro Classic tournament, set for February 24 through March 3, in Orlando (streamed on MLSsoccer.com).

“The focus of Orlando will be to continue the on-field work to prepare us for the start of the season,” said Impact head coach Jesse Marsch. “We will be able to use the matches against MLS teams to continue evaluate where we are as a team.”

NEW YORK (Monday, February 20, 2012) – Major League Soccer today announced the schedule for the 2012 MLS Reserve League season. Each of the 19 MLS clubs will participate in 10 matches for a total of 95 Reserve League games.

The league will again be divided into Eastern, Central, and Western conferences with each team playing all games within their conference.

The Montreal Impact Reserve team will be in the Eastern Conference, with Columbus, D.C., New England, New York, Philadelphia and Toronto.

CARSON, California - The Montreal Impact ended its stint in California with a 0-0 draw against the NCAA’s UCLA Bruins, followed by a 3-1 win over Ventura Country Fusion, on Friday, at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California. 

After playing a scoreless draw versus UCLA, the Impact picked things up with a convincing display over the USL side.

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Friday the acquisitions of forward Mike Fucito and midfielder Lamar Neagle from the Seattle Sounders in exchange for forward Eddie Johnson, selected earlier in the day through the allocation process.

Fucito, 25, and Neagle, 24, both helped Seattle win the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2011, on October 4, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 against the Chicago Fire, as well as a second place finish in the Western Conference.

CARSON, California – The Montreal Impact concludes its preseason tour in California on Friday with two games at the Home Depot Center, starting with the NCAA’s UCLA Bruins, at 1pm ET, before facing the Ventura County Fusion, of the USL Premier Development League. Both games are slated for 90 minutes.

The Impact has a record of 3-2-3 in preseason action since the start of camp, which continues in Orlando, Florida, with the Walt Disney Pro Classic tournament, beginning February 21.

MONTREAL - Montreal Impact defender Zarek Valentin has been selected by the U23 US National Team Thursday to a 10-day training camp in Frisco, Texas, from February 19 to 29.

Valentin had taken part in the previous camp in Carson, California, in January.

The 20-year-old defender is currently in California with the Impact. He will join the U.S. squad in Texas directly from Los Angeles.

Valentin has appeared in all three of the team’s preseason games versus MLS competition, scoring a goal against the LA Galaxy last Tuesday.

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact and the Houston Dynamo completed a trade on Thursday. The Impact received a conditional pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft in return for forward Brian Ching. As per the policies of Major League Soccer and the Impact, details of the deal were not disclosed.
