OTTAWA, Ontario – Ottawa Fury FC, the Montreal Impact’s partner club, announced on Thursday the signing of midfielder Jimmy-Shammar Sanon for the 2017 USL season.

Sanon will join goalkeeper David Paulmin and defenders Thomas Meilleur-Giguère and Aron Mkungilwa, who also signed with Fury FC for next season.

The 20-year-old midfielder first entered the Academy in 2012 before joining FC Montreal in July 2016. He played five USL games, including one start, registering one goal and one assist. His goal, scored against the Charleston Battery on September 7, was voted Goal of the Year for the 2016 USL season.

Sanon played with the U16 and U18 Canadian national teams before the Haitian national team invited him to take part in the CONCACAF U20 Championship last February.

The Montreal Impact will retain Sanon’s MLS rights due to his homegrown status.
